Student welfare
- To register for any ACE course applicants must ensure they meet all the required pre-requisites
- Prior to the first day of training students are required to attend an orientation talk and tour to meet their trainers, contact and support personnel. Dates will be advised by an agent or ACE.
- Meetings of trainers and managers are held weekly to discuss progress of all students. Students are included in these meetings if necessary. Issues of progress, attendance etc are then communicated to the students.
- Privacy. At enrolment ACE collects personal details about you for recording contact information and results. By signing the enrolment form you are authorising ACE to collect, store and disclose this information to various Government Departments eg NZQA, NZ Immigration Service or NZ Police. You have the right to see and correct your information, ask your trainer for access.
- If a student’s contact details change while in NZ the student is required to submit new contact details to your agent and ACE within three days of that change.
- Accommodation. ACE does not supply or recommend any form of student accommodation, refer to a suitable agent.
- Welfare services. ACE does not supply advice on welfare services, refer to a suitable organisation or your agent
- Smoking. ACE is a non-smoking environment. Please smoke outside the buildings.
- Occupational Safety and Health (“OSH”). Evacuation instructions are in every training room and lunchroom. Good health habits to avoid Occupational Overuse Syndrome (“OOS”) are on posters in every training room. Please note these and adhere to them. If you have any issues about OSH or OOS please raise them with your trainer.
- Phones. Switch off all mobile phones and pagers during class sessions.
- Visitors. Visitors must register with ACE reception and wait in the lunchroom. Visitors are not allowed to wait for excessive periods of time.
- Disability. If you have a disability that may affect your attendance or performance please notify the enrolling staff member.
- Suitable dress. Neat appearance is important, you will be mixing with work colleagues and potential employers.
- Information and advice on driving laws, driver licensing requirements and road traffic safety. ACE does not supply advice on driving laws, licensing or road safety, refer to your agent.
- Sexual education and family planning services. ACE does not supply advice on accessing information on sexual education and family planning services, refer to your doctor, family planning service or your agent.
- ACE abides by the Fair Trading Act, the Consumers Guarantees Act and the Human Rights Act. If you have concerns about any of these Acts please raise these concerns with your trainer or Centre Manager. If you feel your concerns are not adequately addressed then please follow the procedure set out in the Grievance Policy and Procedure section.
